Sad Day for Bees, Birds

Thursday, August 1, 2019, 11:35 am — Working at the computer … looked out the window … branches of the bountiful butterfly bush were shaking … bending violently … no wind blowing … what the??!! … cut down to less than window height! … (culprit in photo) … parting “gift” of the not-so-good landscapers on their last day … they’d been fired … called the apartment manager …  no policy that plants have to be this short, especially in full-bloom season … had been planted by cousin L a few years ago …

… this had been a mecca for hummingbirds, butterflies and honey bees … as soon as it was cut, a throng of confused bees circled the empty space … where did our flowers go?! … red arrow points to bees in the photos below …

In memory of the butterfly bush … the way it was … one year ago … with Perkins … Déjà Vu Cat, Sept. 11, 2018 … it was even more expansive this year …
